November 10: Sharon Giles, Cache County Events Center, 12:00 pm, $15

Topic: Day-to-day life is filled with situations requiring perspective and skills in mediation and negotiation (e.g., allocation of household chores, difficult conversations with family and friends). Examples for HR professionals include trying to secure a new hire, mediating conflicts between employees or between supervisors and employees, and navigating difficult and complex conversations. Sharon will share ideas and lead a group discussion about strategies to increase confidence going into these situations and to enhance the potential for win-win outcomes.

Bio: Sharon Giles has worked in human resources for over 30 years in a variety of settings, including consumer products/aerospace, for profit/not-for-profit, and corporate/field environments. Her experience encompasses key human resources focus areas, including recruiting, safety, employee relations, training and development, and talent management. Currently she serves as the Space Dynamics Laboratory’s Director of Human Resources. She has been adjunct faculty for Utah State University’s MHR program, teaching Negotiation, Mediation, and Conflict Resolution. Over the course of her long and varied career, Sharon has had the pleasure of interacting with and learning from diverse individuals and groups.
