Topic: UOSH 101: The mission of the Utah Occupational Safety and Health Division is to help ensure a safe and healthy workplace for every worker in the state of Utah. This presentation covers the many facets of the UOSH program, and how we can all work together in keeping people safe on the job.
In order to achieve its mission, UOSH helps employers through consultation, training and compliance assistance. UOSH also helps employees by completing investigations and inspections in order to identify and remove hazards from the workplace, and protects the employee’s right to a safe and healthy workplace.
Bio: Cameron Ruppe spent earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Services Administration with an emphasis in Emergency Medical Care from Utah Valley University, followed by a Master of Education from Utah State University. After working several years as an EMT, responding to many emergency calls and accidents, he found a new passion when he was offered work as a safety professional in the oil and gas industry in his hometown of Vernal, Utah. He found that he was able to help employers and employees to work safely and prevent accidents in a historically dangerous line of work. In 2017, he was appointed by Utah Labor Commissioner, Jaceson Maughan, as the Director of UOSH. He currently resides in Lehi with his wonderful wife Courtney of twelve years, and their four children: Takoma (10), Mckinley (9), Stockton (5), and Rockwell (3).
