March’s speaker will be Sterling Petersen. Sterling originates from Northern Utah with many years of experience in corporate training practices and professional entertainment. His admiration for people has motivated and focused his attention in several areas dealing with human relations. Upon his completion of Utah State University’s Business programs, in Marketing and Human Resource Management, Sterling continued his education at USU by obtaining a Masters Degree in Instructional Technology. Sterling’s education and experience cover many areas such as: conflict resolution, team development, communication, stress management, self-esteem, interpersonal styles, workplace safety, quality control, etc. Sterling is currently employed at Bridgerland Technical College in the Custom Fit Department where he assists companies with their training and development needs.

This session will provide valuable information about an amazing training resource right here in our backyard; Custom Fit. This This unique program offers the benefit of state-of-the-art training and development, customized to meet specific business needs, at an affordable cost. The Utah Legislature allocates Custom Fit funds each year to encourage companies to pursue training that will maintain and grow Utah’s businesses and economy. Sterling Petersen, the program director will share additional information about what training options (leadership to lifting and back safety, teamwork to trenching and everything in between) are available as well as share some case studies of local companies who have benefited from the program and funds.
After the Custom Fit presentation, Juli Weber will share some simple ways to calculate ROI and Cost Benefit Analysis for training initiatives. Learning these simple calculations will support future training initiatives and help you as a HR professional express the impact of learning solutions in financial terms.
